Every piece of Hawaii art has a story behind it, and Wailea Art is no different. We're a family-run studio based in Wailea, Maui, and our path to painting the islands wasn't exactly a straight line.

From Hollywood to Hawaii

Before Wailea Art existed, our family spent years working as creative directors for major Hollywood studios — leading design and advertising campaigns for feature film posters and billboards seen across the country. It was a career built on bold visual storytelling: knowing how to capture a feeling in a single image, and make people stop and pay attention.

Eventually, that same eye for composition and color found a new subject: the light, color, and spirit of the Hawaiian islands. What started as a creative shift became a full studio, built around one simple idea — bring the same level of professional design and storytelling used in major film campaigns to original Hawaii art.

How Every Piece Is Made

Each Wailea Art piece begins as an original work, created using a combination of digital tools — Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator — and hand-drawn illustration, then produced as a museum-quality print. Our art draws directly from the islands around us: the resort coastline of Wailea and Kapalua, the historic streets of Lahaina, and the energy of Honolulu and Oahu.

Open Edition, By Choice

Unlike many art studios, everything we create is open edition rather than limited edition — meaning a piece you love today will still be available tomorrow. We've never believed in creating artificial scarcity around our work; we'd rather make sure the piece that speaks to you is still there when you're ready for it.
